Our house is finally finished enough to be considered Completely Finished. Ahhhhh! (We still have to  switch out the overhead lamp in the kitchen, because the first one we got was WAY too bright! But a new one should be on its way and yeah, the rest is done, so we're finished, yes.)

I LOVE our new bedroom curtain! It's double pleated and attached at the sides, so finally, finally, we have complete privacy! Oh, bliss! Worth every penny of the extortionate price we paid for it. On the upside, when you pay That Much for something, they come, they install, it's exactly to your specifications, and it fuckin' works. It's shocking how rare that is.

We spent last weekend getting a handle on our guest bedroom and our office - which had been turned into storage rooms while we were getting the rest of the house painted and the kitchen built. And they were the last hurdles to a peaceful, orderly home. So, yeah. The guest bedroom looks super cute, as some of my childhood teddy bears have moved in (didn't know where else to put them, and really didn't have the heart to throw them away) and you can actually see the floor and the desk in the office, which, whoa. I forgot that was there, almost. :) My book shelf could do with a thorough reorganization, but considering that the main issue is a lack of shelf space, I'm not sure how many miracles I can expect from myself.

Next weekend, we're having two sets of neighbors over for our official "Kitchen Warming." Look at us, making friends and socializing with neighbors! It only took 6 years. The one set is Christian and Maria, whom I've clumsily mentioned before. We met over the fence in the back yard, and they're super cool. The other set is Molly's favorite playmate, Tulle's parents, Brian and Kirsten. We talk a lot while the dogs run themselves tired, and they are also super cool people. I'm excited. This is what I've been missing since I moved away from my old neighborhood. It sucks not having people close by that you can just have a chat with. And if you want to see your friends, you have to make it a whole Thing and pick a date to invite them over. I've missed the spontaneity of being friends with your neighbors. Of having your neighbors be your friends.

I have a huge bruise on the side of my left thigh from attending a 40th birthday the weekend before last, so it turns out those can be off the hook, too. :) I was dancing with the hostess' brother-in-law, and we were supposed to do some awesome move, but he accidentally let go and sent me flying. So yeah, some chairs broke my fall. It was very diginified. And decidedly less awesome than what we had attempted. In related news, despite my zero hours of training, I am still not a ninja. :p

Last night I dreamed I had a pile of worksheets for invoicing taller than myself. That's actually pretty indicative of my feelings toward my day-to-day activities at the office at present. Blergh. At least my pile isn't THAT huge in real life...
